As Sean rightly points out, ticket sales will be trumpeted from the rooftops when they do go on sale. Claire also notes that tickets will go on sale 6 weeks prior to the event, information which I have seen corroborated in several authoritative places.

So... Can I ask that comments be restricted to useful information rather than requests for info - that call is loud and clear!

Hello, I think if this Paul finds out about the tickets it would be unfair to say when sales are because then all of these foreigners who don't ever want to visit Edinburgh or non Scots will just all of a sudden use the ciy to see the event. I am from Edinburgh and so are others who have asked and nothing goes on in the city so we should get first chance to enjoy it for once in our lives let us get something. Don't give out ticket information find out yourselves. Edinburgh people will understand.

No one has officially signed up to do the EMA's yet but there are rumours that Kylie and Madonna will make appearances. Tickets are not usually on sale until much closer to the event, which as you probably know is on November 6th. MTV will update it's web site as to further information on the awards as far as I know.

I e-mailed MTV Europe and they said that tickets go on sale six weeks before the event and the hotline will be aired on MTV sometime in October. As yet, no word on performers or guests - as long as Good Charlotte don't go! Hope that is helpful for you.

Hi Paul, I work at First Call Tickets and we have had a lot of cutomers come through to us saying that they are American Express Goldcard holders and are either entitled to first shout at tickets or a special offer. Do you know anything about this? Our number has been advertised as the retail outlet for this offer but we don't know anything about it. Any info would be appreciated, cheers.

American Express Platinum (maybe other card types aswell) cardholders can book tickets from early October. This is meant to be before the public sale.

I live in Leith (about 300 yards from Ocan Terminal). We all got a letter about how the MTV thing wouldn't affect us local residents and gave an email link about tickets offered to people from the area. The link doesn't work (at least tonight it doesn't). Am inclined to believe it is just to appease Edinburgh City Council and that all tickets are just going to go to MTV approved worthies and there is no point asking.

Having read all the comments, I still dont know when and where the tickets are on sale. Supposedly 6 weeks before the event...this isnt 13/10/03. Ticket prices have been quoted from 34.00-100.00. Several places have been quoted for selling tickets. I have scanned newspapers etc but no info available.

'Tickets will be going on sale mid-October but I am afraid that I do not as yet have a confirmed date. By the way, if I DO get tickets, I will be driving to Edinburgh from Bristol. If my mates decide not to go, I may have spare seats (F.O.C!) so mail me () if you're interested (18+ only please). me again! yes there is also supposedly going 2 be a concert in princes st gardens on at the same time as the awards for people who did not manage to get tickets. information is not definite yet but i've heard it is to be free and there will b links on screens to the awards ceremony in the gardens. this is the information i found :

The Road ends at Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens with a free live music performance at the same time as the awards ceremony is taking place across the city. I heard that the hotline for ordering tickets will be announced during TRL on Monday, and when it's announced the tickets go on sale. If that's true it seems crazy to me, there'll be a pretty slim chance of even getting through. Are they still being sold on TicketMaster on Monday? I hope so, it's my best hope!!

That number you keep giving for ticketmaster is the dominion theatre booking line. Every venue has a different number.

The tix are goin on sale at 5pm on monday - only via the hotline which will b revealed on TRL at 5pm.

Ok now I'm confused as hell. I called Ticketmaster and the guy on the phone claimed they weren't gonna be the ones selling the tickets.. apparently you can ONLY get them from MTV themselves. So do we just wait for that hotline number, knowing that there are gonna be several million people trying at the same time, probably gonna be too late by then. Totally unfair on us local people having to watch all the people who reside far away getting all the tickets. I was hoping to be able to camp on some pavement and get my tickets the old fashioned way. Oh well, looks like another money making scheme for the tourist board. To have this hotline as the only means of buying them would be awful. There will be a massive overload of millions across Europe trying to get through. I mean, people could be on the off chance watching TRL on Monday, fancy going along to the awards having before known nothing about it and get through to tickets, when there are a lot of others who have been trying for months to get them and will probably end up empty handed. Its just typical that it's been made so difficult for people locally to get tickets to a big event which Scotland has been waiting a long time for.

Called ticket master this morning they say tickets are available at 5pm.I can't believe none have been put aside for edinburgh residents!

There maybe tickets set aside at a Virgin store in Edinburgh... but you have to remember it's not like there is 100's of tickets available for the public i've been to MTV when it was in Dublin and it's not a concert it's small.. so wise up guys.
Also at 5pm you won't be competeing with Europe they have a different ticket allocation which is very small amount.
No companies other than sponsers will have tickets this is why it's being dne like this... so the only other way is Ebay from personel sales.

I called Virgin in Edinburgh on Friday... and was told they would not be selling the tickets. :(

The 08706077400 number you are giving is for the Dominion Theatre booking line, not for the mtv tickets. To call ticketmaster for this, call 08704000700, which will also be selling the tickets at 5pm, as well as their website and the mtv hotline.

but remember of that 6000 there are only 1500 for sale to the public, mtv's sponsors have around 3500 and the rest are vip guests.

you have a slim chance of getting to see it, i know i will, cos i will be working beside it.

other than that the free concert in the gardens is your best bet.

guys listen- ticketmaster are selling on behalf of mtv because obviously mtv don't have their own ticketing office. they will be on sale online but i reckon from previous experience at buying for sort after events like this, you won't be able to get them online, the site just can't cope with that number of people ringing. trl is to announce the number for the hotline and that is the best bet-it will just be the lucky ones first in the queue to get the tickets unfortunately!

Well I telephoned Ticletmaster (mate works there) and he said that they (Ticketmaster) have not been told of there allocation and that if you want tickets you have to get the number of the TRL web site, apparently the number will come up on the main page at 16:30. But I should point out that this all smacks of the same shite that happened at other MTV events, in that this their polite way of saying "not a chance". Good luck to you all, but fer all the hasle I think I will buy cable !!

i hope mtv realise the misery they've caused 1000's of people, only the touts would've got their grubby paws on tickets i bet. thankfully i wasn't too bothered about going so i'll have a better night elsewhere anyway, but still pissed off about the way it's all been handled.

NO WAY. I called the hotline number on TRL AS SOON AS IT CAME UP, I didn't even write it down, just dialled. It rang and I got a recorded message saying something like "You have reached blah blah MTV blah. The tickets are currently unavailable, this call will now disconnect." BULLSHIT... NOBODY could have sold all those tickets that they claimed to have that fast. I dialled the exact moment it came on up the screen, and got through. I am VERY peed off indeed. grrrrr!

I have to admit I am really mad at finding out other people were able to buy tickets from Ticketmaster earlier. I've been calling all week and just getting told just to watch MTV. Something totally dodgy goin' on with the ticket sellers. I would try and send MTV a big letter of complaint, but I'd doubt that they'd even bother to read it.

i was on the phone to ticketmaster at 10 to 5 and was chatting to a girl until they went on sale. apparently ticket master were allocated 30, ten every ten minutes and thats what happened to them, she said some agents have them somewhere. i never got any though, got cut off- i'm so pissed off!!

YOu know the funny thing is that the mtv.co.uk website still says, check back here at 5.00pm for the hotline number! fair enough there is gonna be alot of demand for the tickets but they should have given everyone the same chance to get them! i mean ticketmaster saying that they got 30 every 10 minutes and they werent sure if they would have had any in the first place etc. also not everyone has trl so its puting them at a disadvantage aswell especially if the website is till not updated with the number! its a farse and i reckon that although they say there were 200 or 1500 tickets available that all the staff of these companies snapped them up!!

just called footlocker head office. facts are... they have 100 tickets between the glasgow and edinburgh branch so i presume they will go 50 50. The guy on the phone said that they are 95% sure that they are just going to sell them but he also said they are still to confirm that as they might give them away in some kind of promotion. if they were to be sold he said that they will probably be sold sometime on the week of the event. it would be a first come first serve basis. first 50 customers to buy a pair of trainers gets the oportunity to buy a ticket! He also said that he cant confirm but he hinks that that they will limit it to 1 ticket per purchase of trainers. so that means if you want 2 you will need to buy 2 pairs of shoes. you can see the idea behind this anyway cos they are gonna sel loads of trainers on that day! anyway, keep any info posted! by the way, if this is confirmed i reckon people will be camping out all night to get them! i will be!

POP queen Britney Spears was today confirmed to appear at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Leith next month.

The pin-up will join rocker Kelly Osbourne and Fun Lovin’ Criminals frontman Huey Morgan as guest presenters at the gala ceremony.

Already confirmed as presenters are chart-topper singer Justin Timberlake, supermodel Naomi Campbell, and Sharleen Spiteri and Shirley Manson, of Scots bands Texas and Garbage respectively. Rockers The Darkness and indie kings The White Stripes are the latest acts to be confirmed for performances at the Western Harbour arena currently under construction.

Fans will also be treated to performances by Beyoncé Knowles, Dido, Kylie Minogue, Pink, Sean Paul, The Chemical Brothers, The Flaming Lips and Travis for the 10th annual MTV show, which will be hosted by Christina Aguilera on November 6.

It was announced last week that a string of venues would be playing host to special MTV week events in the run-up to the ceremony. The event has been marred by controversy over a decision not to sell any tickets for the 6000-capacity arena in Edinburgh.

Fans desperate to claim their place at the event had to compete with callers from across Europe via a single hotline number.

However, MTV is staging a free concert featuring The Flaming Lips and The Chemical Brothers in Princes Street Gardens on the night of the awards.

Yeah I went to the Usher hall yesterday, not really expecting much but i knew i'd hate myself if i didn't try.

They made us dance in groups of 10-12 on stage and cheer. They looked really ruthless when checking out our photo when we danced, i was sure only 2-3 people would get chosen, but they let our whole group go! I think they had maybe not let enough people through earlier in the day and needed to fill the space for the pit so they let all 50 of us in!

I felt really bad for the next group of 50 people going in after us as they had just said to us they filled the pit practically and no-one else would get in.

They did say they were auditioning poeple in Princes st Gardens on saturday for other parts of the show, not really sure what part of the show, but if your around town on saturday go and have a try, i did and it got me in!

Just to warn yall City can be really arsey about letting people in. I wanted to go for my 21st and they wouldn't let me in cos I wasn't 21 yet (even tho I was 25 mins later!!!) Also their dress code is strict and its v expensive...joy!

Are they able to refuse entry if you are over 18 but under 21 as it said nowhere on the website that it was over 21? Or do you think that they use the over 21 rule to be picky about letting you in if you don't fit their "image?" like a lot of other clubs do?

Hopefully they'll let us in or i'll be selling 3 tickets outside the door!!

I got some tickets for the garden party on Friday morning, and i waited with some mates for almost 11 hours(started queueing just after 10pm when i finished work). I got 2 tickets, but my friend behind me didn't, thanks to 3 cheeky bitches who pushed in the frontat about 7:30am. I can't believe the HMV i queued at (Edinburgh St. James Centre) had less than 40 tickets, yet the other (albeit slightly larger) HMV (Edinburgh Princes Street) had bloody 600! It's a total joke, and although the bigger store should get more tickets, no way is it 15 times bigger. Our queue didn't even have security until 8am, whereas Princes St. had security and fencing all night. This was a huge cock up for HMV and it really pissed me off, even though i got tickets. The 2 friends who were gonna come with us now can't come as they can't get the time off work, so i'll be selling 2 tickets on Ebay. Don't even think about having a go at me for selling free tickets, I sat in the freezing cold for 11 hours with my mate, and he didn't even get tickets (well we did eventually). I charge what i like for my time, and it's not like i'm forcing people to pay what they bid.

If you can't get tickets for Trevor Nelson, go to Ripping Records in Edinburgh. My mate (same guy who almost missed out on tickets) went and got some today. Sounded like it was like going to McDonalds, only faster, and more satisfying. They had quite a few left, he walked in, paid, walked out. City nightclub is bloody expensive, i suspect i'll be drunk on top tunes from the man Trevor Nelson on the night of the 6th. Sean.

Yes HMV Princes Street were supposed to have 600 tickets for the Gardens (2 per person), that's what I was told the day before, but on the morning I arrived to queue at 6.30am and would say there was about 100, maybe 150 people at the most in front of me so thought I would definitely get 2 tickets. I didn't get any and there were about 20 people in front of me who didn't get any either.

rik, tickets are sold out on ticketweb but you should be able to get them at face value from ripping records, there number is 0131 226 7010, city is on market street which i am told is just off of princes street, hope that helps

On the leaflet I have it says the Footlocker tickets are gonna be limited to only 1 per person, first come first served, which means first 50 people will each get a ticket. In reply to all your postings regarding the Trevor Nelson Aftershow Party at City, Edinburgh please review the following guidlines:

Dress Code - smart but casual (jeans & trainers ok as long as clean), look as if you have made an effort.....and be sober (on entry anyway)

Age - Over 18s however bring ID if you look 18-20 as you will be asked to prove your age, (passport, driving licence- Genuine as we know the fakes)

Hope this clears up any queries, and have a fab night.

Claire, You are best to park your car in a car park in the centre of town (there is nowhere safe really to park your car down Leith) and then get a bus number 22 down to Ocean Terminal. In saying that there is quite a few roads being closed in the centre of town and down Leith, you would be best advised in getting a bus rather than taking your car.

Should be good I managed to get 4 tickets from the AMEX allocation on 6th October :-)

Lets all be honest if you dont have a ticket you are VERY UNLIKELY to get one and if you do you will be paying a huge price for it. Will people stopping asking for tickets! Especially quoting figures like £70 for 1. Look at ebay and this will tell you the price you have to pay. I dont condone these huge prices but this is life! If you were that desperate for tickets you could have started camping outside Footlocker last week etc!

Justin Timberlake was in at City nightclub in edinburgh last night and is supposedly going there to the Trevor Nelson gig after th eMTV awards tonight. Also Beyonce and sean Paul are supposed to be going there to do a couple of numbers aftre the MTv awards tonight. Who knows who else will be there!!

Just Gotta Say That the Sean Paul Concert last night waz shit. I got my phone stolen, there was a bomb scare, the corn exchange is to small for that amount of people and When Sean Paul did eventualy arrive at 10.30 he only played for half an hour and then fucked off again. The Support acts were on for three hours. Disgracefull

next thing, sean paul is doing a live pa from behind the piler, so we cant see him. does LIKE GLUE and says no more. we are all like......'is he really there'?

time comes to 4.30, i have to leave, i know its only like 30mins to go, but i ain't seen no more celebs, so i figure its a good time to go........next thing, i'm on my way out, who's in the corridor, singing, LIKE GLUE????????? How mental was JayC (ludacris' DJ)? Don't think Trev was too happy with him trying to get them girls to get their boobs and ass out! I had a great time at the awards! I thought the White Strips were good as was Dido <-- although I am not ag reat fans of hers.

As the sounds went dodgy on Beyonce's track right at the start of the show we all had to stay back after the live tv transmission went off air to record the track again. So we got double Beyonce!

I was at both Nerd and City and can tell you straight off that city was best, left just before five and in the corridor as a verry drunk christina leaves with the girl from black eyed peas, other celebs at city were hasselbank?(think hes a footballer?), andre 3000 from outkast justin, and beyonce(never saw her tho)etc etc, had tickets for both and city was much better than nerd! Beyonce and sean pauls dancers were Amazing - thought that was one of the best part of the nite watching them freestyle! Any other celebs that i've missed out?

@laura - yeah, you mised out on Dermot O'Leary (so what?! lol) and i just remembered that that guy from Edinburgh that never got thru to the final 12 in pop idol (Craig??? blonde white t-shirt etc) was there. lol
