Today in the UK

Adding to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of QEII's (of England, QEI of Scotland and QEI of the UK but that is another story for another day) coronation and the 50th anniversary of news arriving in the UK of Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay having completed the first ascent of Everest - Queen meets Everest heroes - the Beagle II, as part of Europe's first mission to Mars, has had a perfect launch from Baikonur in Kazakhstan at 1745 GMT. According to the BBC, "A signal from Mars Express reporting that all systems were 'nominal' was received at 2044 BST (1944 GMT)."

I have to start writing shorter sentences.
