Via Evhead, Google Groups 2 launches in Beta. The portalisation of Google continues combining Microsoft's knack of capitalising on other people's offerings (MSN Groups, Yahoo Groups) with Google's early bird, good karma, purchase of Deja News. Thumbs up for Atom formatted feeds (choice of Atom makes sense over RSS). Google are making big strides to personalise their relationship with users - this and Gmail help it to slowly morph into a destination site with inherent benefits for ad revenue and ability to better serve customers.
