Notes from the (legal) Underground points to Greg Raymer's win at the 2004 World Series of Poker and a post by Greg Raymer on rec.gambling.poker from 2001 where Raymer (a.k.a. Fossilman) asserts that patent attorneys from southeastern Connecticut are about the best poker players there are. Seems his self confidence was well placed. David Williams, who came second, played extremely well tho' and his 2's full of 4's was only narrowly beaten by Raymer's 2's & 8's.
