Over the last 10 days or so I've been out on my bike a fair bit; Laggan Wolftrax, the forests around Elgin and on Sunday Glentress.
Laggan (Link) ,off the A9 between Newtonmore and Dalwhinnie, is a great little place, relatively quiet due to its out of the way location with good facilities. It has blue, red and black trails, a cafe, a shop and an uplift service if you are just too knackered to face the uphill. But the uphill is not too bad so the uplift is usually not required. It was a beautiful day and AndyJ, Colin, AndyR, Bry & I had an ace time.
Glentress (Link) is vast and amazing. Red, Blue and Black trails intermingle all over. The bike to the top is, for me, tough but I managed it twice on Sunday which is, I reckon, good going! The top of the red has cool berms where you can keep your speed up for the jumps, this leads on to great singletrack and fast descents through varied terrain. In the morning my chain snapped right at the top so the freewheeling descent to the Hub bike shop was much quicker than planned.
