I saw a clip on the news and was astonished. I have been doing this sort of thing all my life(24 years) for my own entertainment and to the astonishment and/or horror of all onlookers. Why use the stairs when you can vault/climb the railings? For all who keep asking where you can start or that you don't have a place to begin, you have to start LOOKING at the world differently. Every bench, ledge, rail, wall, gap, chair, fence or building is there for you to jump, climb, or vault. 2 words: WAY COOL

I finished watching a hour long show on free running. It was on really late at night on TLC. I live in the states and I'm thankful for such a "free" sport. It is boundless and without limits. I've always love trail running and also long jumping. I'm positive this sport will gain popularity in future years. Thank you, JC

Posted by J C at January 3, 2005 05:25 PM

I watched this show about the making of jump london on TLC and imediatly i was hoocked. I couldnt wait to try it so that very night I went up to my roof and started jumping beeteween buildings. The police saw me and thaght that I was a burgular. I dont recomend trying big jumps from the begining becouse I almost fell three stories to the ground trying to make a 20ft jump.
I barely made it of course with a Huge scratch.I have decided to continue to practice this great sport.

I am 15 years old and a usualy rock climb and do cross-country running so i figure free running will be fun and very challanging. I live in California, America and was wondering if any body knows of a place in California they have classes or meetings for free running. I would apriciate it if someone could help me. Thanx

Hi, I was captivated by the sound of this sport, I would love to do an article for my school newpaper about it and introduce it to them, so I was looking for info. my comp wont let me onto urbanfreeflow, so if anyone has another site that gives details that would be great, I just need something to get along with. Maybe I'll take it up...sounds fun!

Hello, i've just watched a show called Jump Britain, on Channel 4 (uk)and when it finished, i headed strairt to the interent to do some 'research' in to this skill, the seach engine sent me here, and i was wondering on how to get started and wht main key areas are need, and what mousels are best to develop in preperation form preforming this tallent.

I'm in to the agressive sport life style, and a few of my friends have done Parkour and i havent really been into it untill tonights show where you can really see what can be acheaved, and i think that if more publisity was put in to Parkour many more people would wish to be involved and 'be like the pros'

After seeing this program, i am now going to try to begin Parkour, and i hope with your pointers, i can become better.

Hi all
Not been able to access reccomended sites yet they must be overloaded after Jump Britain. I'll get there. meantime i'm here in Liverpool. Anyone else out there doing it already. I love movement I dance-all kinds, do Akido and the Nia technique anything that gets me into my body brings me so into the moment total focus on flow and that's how I learn about life the best. I imagine le parkour would do the same for me. And yes used to do it round the house with me bro and drive mum crazy. ( further stage to this was to do it without being seen ) Plus any good advise on footwear appriciated.

I would advise anyone who wants to start, firstly to make friends with other people who want to start as well. Go to your nearest park that has some rails or walls and practice anything. Jumping, rolling and vaulting are all key skills that are needed to progress in Parkour.Have a look on the internet to hook up with other like-minded people so that you can learn new techniques. This way you will progress quickly.
Believe me www.urbanfreeflow.com is one of the best sites to visit. After a few jams with other 'free runners' I could vault, 360 reverse vault, dash vault, monkey vault, tictac, 3 step wall runs, cat leap as well as loads of other shit. Try to learn the basics and then pick something that you want to be your speciality. I can do all the shit that i said before but now i focus primarily on gap jumps, wall runs and wall plants. Wall runs especially are a real crowd pleaser, as they think that it shouldnt be possible :p. Practice and email me at [email protected] with ANY questions i will reply the day i get the email.
PS dont let anyone think that you wont be able to do parkour if you are young. Im only fifteen :).

Peace Ace

Hi, I just watch FreeRunning London... amazing the WORLD is SMALL.... i'm from BOLIVIA(SouthAmerica)... I used to do freerunning but I never name it. I feeled like "experience in art" .... I remember when I was 17 years old I used to jump from roofs windows chairs, monuments like crazy...... many thanks for inspiring me I will start it again.... It's good way of experience our lifes... FREEAIR IS LIFE FREERUNNING IS LIVING IT.

Posted by Enrrique at February 9, 2005 05:57 PM

As cool as free runnin looks, i hope you are informing these young ones of the proper way to do it. This is a very dangerous activity, even straight martial arts have rules and guidlines to keep it safe. A kid died on a railway line only a few weeks while trying this.
These are children we are dealing with, give them the right controls and hopefully there wont be anymore death. I enjoy free running but i also respect those around me and know my limits.

Hey Kings and Queens! 23 yr. old chick Traceur from Texas here! Saw Parkour for the first time not too terribly long ago and fell in love. Haven't been able to stand still since then, the only problem being that the nearest "city" (if you want to call it that) is...far. Not much besides trees and my house to practice on our here! *sad* Anyway, God bless y'all and don't break anything, eh?

Love the sport. Live the art. Join the race.

You lot have probably been told this already a thousand times, but the easiest thing to do is go down to a local gymnastics class and take a few sessions. You can learn all kinds of useful stuff
