Language is too important to ignore. You are right that it is the business of government to support it, otherwise languages would only be judged in the free market on whether it can generate revenue or capital. Meanwhile, language is reality itself...we experience the world through it...and if Scotland loses Gaelic, on a number of levels the country will be less Scottish than it is today.
