Cancer (Mesothelioma, Asbestosis etc.)
Mesothelioma, according to Cancer Research UK, is a rare form of cancer but the number of people affected is growing every year.
Mesothelioma occurs in the pleura (the membranes surrounding the lungs) or, more rarely, in the peritoneum (the membrane lining the abdomen). The cancer tends to spread locally. It is often quite advanced at the time of diagnosis.Risk factors include contact with asbestos, other chemicals which contacin zeolite a naturally occuring mineral found in Turkey, radiation from thorium dioxide which used to be used to create X-rays of blood vessels and from other lung diseases. This site aims to keep abreast of advances in care and litigation surrounding mesothelioma. |
